Cancer Rehabilitation 

Regular physical activity can help you throughout your cancer treatment and help
your recovery. We can help you get active at a level that suits you.
The activities in the programme will be tailored to you following an assessment and will help
to:


• Improve physical strength and stamina
• Reduce the effect of fatigue
• Improve range of movement
• Increase energy levels
• Improve bone density & muscular strength
• Increase feelings of positivity
It has been developed by Northamptonshire
Sport in collaboration with the Macmillan
Cancer Recovery Package, Public Health
Northamptonshire and leisure providers who
also support ‘Activity on Referral’.

OTAGO, (Get Up & Go)

The new Get Up & Go activity sessions provide strength and balance classes for Older People.

Get Up & Go sessions will consist of a minimum of a 24 week programme prescribed and delivered by qualified OTAGO Exercise trained instructors.

The Get Up & Go sessions are evidence based activity for the elderly that will support the development of core strength and balance. The research behind the OTAGO exercises throughout the classes is proven to:

  • Reduce falls
  • Reduce injury due to falls
  • Improve balance & strength
  • Improve ability to complete everyday tasks
  • Increase stamina
  • Improve mood
    Improve confidence and independence.

   

We have Get Up & Go at Moulton Community Centre and Lodge Farm Community centre (wellness gym)

OTAGO – Plus Exercise class

Building upon the highly respected Otago Anti-Falls programme, Otago Plus offers progression, with higher level balance exercises and greater emphasis on all round fitness including cardio and strength training. Otago Plus is delivered in a friendly, private gym setting with qualified instructors on hand for guidance and support.

 

 

OTAGO – Gold Exercise class

Building upon the highly respected Otago Anti-Falls programme, Otago Gold offers progression, with higher level balance exercises, greater emphasis on mobility and strategies to recover from a fallen position. Otago Gold is a fantastic course for anyone wanting to improve their confidence, balance and posture in a safe and welcoming environment.

 

MS – Mobility and Strength  – Rushden 

Research has proven the general benefits of exercise. Regular movement improves your cardiovascular health, strengthens your muscles and bones and raises your mood. Exercise can reduce the risk of major illnesses and help you to maintain a healthy weight.

If you are affected by MS, the right exercise can make a difference to managing your everyday activities. It can keep your body at its best by maximising mobility, posture and balance. It can reduce pain and fatigue, improve your confidence and reduce depression.

This Class is done with chairs and hand weights to help with improving strength and everyday living.
